Below are a list of frequently asked questions. Click on a question to see the answer, alternatively if your question doesn't appear in the list then please just get in touch with us.

What do I need to bring to my induction, interview and Compulsory Basic Training day?

You will be sent an email containing all the below information for your induction and interview day, however you will need to bring ALL of the below:

1) Documents and proof of identity:

  • Proof of employment/college placement/apprenticeship placement
  • Proof of address
  • Passport (if one held)
  • Your driving licence (both the paper counterpart and your photo card licence)
  • A recent bank statement
  • Proof of National insurance number
  • If under 18 you will need a parent/guardian present at the induction
  • Your bank details to complete a standing order form

2) Payment for the following:

  • £ for 2 week’s hire upfront, if you are taking your scooter away on the day (please check your email for the precise amount needed as this varies from person to person)

  • £ for safety gear if you are purchasing some from us

Please note:

  • On the day we only accept cash or card payments. Unfortunately we are unable to take cheques.
  • Please be aware all hire payments must be made weekly by standing order after the first payment.

3) Safety Gear:

You will be collecting your moped on this day so please wear suitable clothing and footwear. The following items are compulsory:

  • Padded motorcycle jacket
  • Safety helmet
  • Padded gloves
  • High-Vis vest

Please note: if we are not satisfied with the condition of your safety gear we have the right to refuse you hire of our scooter.

If you do not have these safety items or think you need new ones we can provide you with them.  Our prices are as follows:

  • Jacket - £40
  • Helmet - £40
  • Gloves - £10
  • High-Vis Vest - £5      

4) Other items

  • Please bring a packed lunch with you as this is a full day course
  • Please make sure you bring glasses or contact lenses with you if required
  • You should have a basic working knowledge of the Highway Code before attending the course.

If you need to cancel your course

To change or cancel your booking, you must give at least three clear working days notice before your test date to avoid losing your test fee.

Please check that you have everything in the list above with you on the day, it may not be possible to complete the interview and induction if there is anything missing.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We have the right to turn applicants away at the interview for lack of information, payment or for any issues not previously discussed.

How do I apply?

You can apply to the Wheels 2 Work scheme online. Simply click on this link and follow the onscreen instructions.

Once you have submitted your application you will hear from a 'Wheels to Work' representative within 48 hours who will confirm your eligibility and if appropriate, book you in for an interview and your training.

How much does wheels to work cost?

You can hire a scooter via the Wheels to Work scheme from as little as £30 per week. However we have scooters available up to £40 per week.

The weekly hire price includes:

  • The scooter
  • Fully comprehensive insurance
  • Road tax
  • L-plates
  • Scheduled maintenance and oil
  • A snake lock and disc lock to keep your scooter safe
  • Ongoing support from Wheels to work HQ

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Your safety is our priority and we want to ensure that you are trained and fully equipped to cope with your new life on the road on two wheels. Our Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course costs £90 which you can choose to pay for up front or split over your first few weeks’ initial hire. Completion of the CBT is a requirement prior to leaving on one of our scooters. Click here to find out more about CBT.

Way to Pay

We have an easy way to pay to get you on the scheme:

1) Upfront CBT payment – e.g. 50cc bike at £30 per week hire

  • At time of booking you pay £90 CBT cost
  • Upon collecting your scooter we will require 2 week’s hire cost in advance - £30
  • On the road price = £150
  • Weekly payment from week 1 onwards = £30

Safety Gear

Plus, if you don't have any safety gear we can provide you with the following:

  • Padded gloves from £10
  • High visibility vest from £5
  • Heavy duty riding jacket from £40
  • Helmet from £40

I already have a CBT certificate, what do I need to bring to my interview and induction?

4) Check that you are a competent rider

As part of your induction you will be taken out for a ride on your moped. Please be aware that if we feel you are not riding safely we have the right to turn you away/request that you undertake refresher Compulsory Basic training prior to hiring one of our scooters.

Who is eligible for Wheels to Work?

If you can answer 'yes' to the following questions then you are eligible for the Wheels 2 Work scheme in Lincolnshire.

  • Do you live in Lincolnshire?
  • Are you over 16 with your own provisional or full driving licence (paper and photo card)?
  • Do you have a job or have been offered a job? Or, are you in, or have you been offered a place in, education or on an apprenticeship?
  • Is the distance to your employment, education or training too far to walk?
  • Do you have your own bank account?
  • Do you have £90 to pay for your Compulsory Basic Training?
  • Can you afford a weekly payment of between £30 - £40?

When will I find out if my application has been successful?

You will find out if your application has been successful within 48 hours of submitting your completed application form. You will be contacted directly by a Wheels 2 Work representative.

If you have been successful we will then arrange a time for you to come in to our HQ

  • For an initial interview
  • To talk through your application form and individual circumstances, and
  • For your Compulsory Basic Training.

You will then be matched with your perfect scooter.

What is the minimum amount of time I can hire a bike for?

The minimum amount of time you can hire one of our scooters for is 6 months.

What is the maximum amount of time I can hire one of your bikes for?

The maximum amount of time you can hire one of our scooters is 4 years
