Leanne, Restaurant Manager
Job: Manager – McDonald's, Skegness
Time as a W2W rider: 6 months
“After a few years being a full time Mum I decided that it was the right time to get back to work. I got a job at McDonald's. I have a 30 mile round trip between home and work and I soon realised that to get to take advantage of extra shifts and overtime I needed a more flexible way to get to and from work. My brother was on the Wheels 2 Work scheme and recommended that I join up.

I was worried about joining the scheme. I had never ridden a motorbike or scooter before and was very nervous about doing it. I needn’t have been worried though. You get used to riding the bike really quickly and they are really easy to ride.
It wasn’t long after joining the scheme that all the extra shifts I worked etc paid off and I was promoted to be the Manager of the McDonald's branch I work in.

As the Manager I am now involved in hiring new staff and I recommend the scheme to anyone who may have problems getting to work or who can’t work certain shifts because they are limited to when someone can drop them off or pick them up. A number of members of staff in my branch are now on the scheme and not only is it easier for them to get to work and work late shifts it also means that I know I have more staff to choose from when organising the weekly rotas.”
